About Me
I'm not a particularly smart person. Any understanding of math or other disciplines I have I've managed to gain only by breaking concepts down to the simplest possible first principles and thinking about them until they make sense to me. This has made me both empathetic toward students learning math or other difficult subjects and enthusiastic about their success: I promise that learning has been as hard for me as for anyone, with the payoff that I know how to make academic material, no matter how complex or dry, accessible and interesting enough for anyone with patience and a desire to learn to master.
Education
Studied at The University of Chicago. Done with classes and living in NY now; will officially get my BS in math in June. My work and research was mostly in a synthesis of pure and applied math.
Teaching Experience
I have tutored fellow students at UChicago in calculus and linear algebra. I also informally have tutored writing while in high school at Collegiate School in NYC, and have lectured quite extensively to graduate students and post-doc while presenting higher-level math (which is like teaching, though in a somewhat formal and specialized context.)
Interests
I enjoy reading about History and playing the piano.
I love teaching and explaining science at every level!
